Separate sound from movement

Park safely and compare the rack with the manufacturer’s installation diagram. Check every foot, clamp, end cap, channel cover, fairing, and attachment. If anything moves, stop. If the system is firm, change one aerodynamic variable at a time—such as a permitted channel cover or load strap—to isolate the sound.

Do not tighten by feel when the maker specifies torque. A quiet rack can still be incorrectly installed, and a noisy but secure bar still needs a practical decision about comfort.

Limits

No road, speed, rack, or noise measurement was tested. This guide does not identify a universal torque or prove aerodynamic performance.
