Draw the support triangle
Record whether the load rests on the bed, extender, tailgate, or another support. Measure the load length, center of mass, tailgate angle, clearance, and tie-down route. Compare those measurements with the extender and truck instructions before driving.
Do not use a tailgate as a structural platform beyond its approved position. A load that fits visually can still create leverage, contact, or a shifted center that exceeds the system.
