Compare the interface, not the sales label
Record bed rail shape, wall thickness, access below the rail, existing cover or liner, rack foot, clamp or drilled plate, fastener grade, torque, sealing, and load path. A clamp needs a rail that can accept its force; a drilled mount needs an approved hole, reinforcement, seal, and service plan.
Choose the least invasive method that the rack maker and truck instructions support, but do not substitute “reversible” for “rated.” Every mounting path still needs a stable connection and the weakest load limit.
