The short answer
Measure the complete setup unloaded and loaded: rack-to-cab clearance, tent overhang, tailgate swing, tonneau interference, bed-rail contact, and total height. A tent is a heavier and more consequential rack load than a small cargo box, so the rack, vehicle, tent, and mounting hardware must agree.
Record the critical dimensions

Use the maker’s hardware and torque sequence, inspect after the first loaded drive, and keep the tent occupants within the stated static limit. Do not assume a stable-looking platform is rated for sleeping occupants.
